HAITI – BEYOND RELIEF
On January 12, 2010 Haiti, an already impoverished and struggling nation of roughly 9 million was rocked to its core by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake. In an instant, this relatively tiny country lost close to 230,000 of its best and brightest and suffered what some have called and instant brain drain. Its capital, Port-au-Prince-the economic, political and cultural center- was nearly destroyed. Homes, schools, and lives were destroyed. Three months after the disaster many are begging for more than relief and are looking for ways to rebuild their lives sustainably. BT Partners is going beyond relief and focusing on interventions that will help people regain their livelihood and learn skills that will not only help them rebuild their lives, but a country one person at a time.
